Instead of THAT, Listen to THIS
I really try not to be an asshole. I know that taste, especially when it comes to music, is both mysterious and personal. I also know that I can’t expect everyone else to have spent years following music trends, tracking bands, and poring over essays by the most respected critics. Indie music is my thing. It’s because of that, not in spite of it, that I often can’t help myself when a friend is consuming garbage.
We all have that friend who eats like shit. They have a piece of leftover cake before heading out the door in the morning, they always eat their sandwiches on white bread, and they can’t tell you the last time they had a fruit or vegetable. This has been their diet for years. You want to encourage them to make healthier choices, but you know that change starts small. They aren’t going to go for anything that disrupts their whole lifestyle. These are the kind of people who “Eat This, Not That” infographics were made for.
We need a similar chart for music. We need something that suggests other, better artists who are similar to the bands someone might be stuck listening to on Top 40 radio. So I made one.
Feel free to share this with a friend who continues to play Britney Spears at every birthday party, or believes that listening to Greta Van Fleet makes them edgy. Help them make healthier choices - one track at a time.
